Beam Me Up

Star Trek fans should be excited
about a recent announcement.
Especially those in the UK.
Destination Star Trek London
organizers announced that all five
small screen captains for “Star
Trek” series will be attending. This
will mark the first time they will all
be appearing together.

William Shatner (Captain Kirk), Patrick Stewart (Captain Picard), Kate Mulgrew (Captain Janeway), Avery Brooks (Commander Sisko) and Scott Bakula (Captain Archer) will all be at the Excel Exhibition Centre for the event. It will run from October 19-21. The UK has one of the biggest “Star Trek” fan base in the world and according to Rob Nathan, marketing director for Media 10, "There will be a host of other guests from the series. The fans will be able to get up close. We are going to make this really interactive. There are going to be stunt displays, we are going to recreate some sets, and get some original sets. People will be able to sit on the starship bridge with members of the cast." Media 10 is organizing the event and could be a once in a lifetime event. "It's going to be an absolute pilgrimage for 'Star Trek' fans," Nathan adds.

Trip to Great Britain

by Rebecca Brett

In 1998 my brother Jason, his wife at the time Jen, my husband Keith and I took a trip to England. One of the sites we visited was Stonehenge. This was in March and it was quite cold and windy...and of course rainy. The wind is just unbearable at Stonehenge (or course I was coming from Florida so it might not be as bad for others).
Construction on Stonehenge started approximately 5000 years ago but it was a work in progress with stones being added up to around 2000BC I believe.
The picture of the painting is on a wall at the site. It's an artists depiction of what Stonehenge looked like complete.
There are many theories as to why Stonehenge was built. From what I understand Druids still worship there. People claim to feel powerful energies from the rock, I myself felt nothing...lol. What is known is that the stones are aligned almost perfectly with the sunrise on the summer solstice.
It's a very cool place to visit and one you must definitely include if you travel to the British Isles.

I'm sure everyone recognizes Big Ben. Again, it was raining. Very typical of England...I guess that's why the grass is so green, like in the picture of St. James Park. The last picture is of the gates in front of Buckingham Palace.

  4. I'm not sure if tourists can get inside Buckingham Palace. When we went to England we only stayed one day in the beginning of the trip and one day at the end in London, so entering Buckingham wasn't on my mind. We rented a farm house in the center of Wales for a week and drove there. I'll send in some pics from Wales maybe next week. (time is always an issue...lol)
